Holter Monitor 24-Hour Tracking
Capture the unseen. Continuous recording of your heart's electrical activity to detect transient issues that a standard ECG might miss.
Capture the unseen. Continuous recording of your heart's electrical activity to detect transient issues that a standard ECG might miss.
Continuous recording of one or two ECG leads may be obtained by attaching them to a small portable tape recorder.
This is useful in detecting transient episodes of arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) or ischemia (heart diseases), which seldom occurs in standard 12-lead ECG recordings.
Unlike a standard ECG which only lasts a few seconds, the Holter Monitor provides a complete picture of your heart's activity over a 24 to 48-hour period while you go about your normal daily routine.
Catches irregular heartbeats causing palpitations or dizziness.
Detects lack of oxygen to the heart even without chest pain.
Evaluates effectiveness of current heart medications or pacemakers.
Patient Instructions
Please follow these guidelines during your monitoring period.
Button-down shirts or blouses are ideal. This allows easy attachment of the device to your waist.
Do not shower, bathe, or swim. Water can damage the recorder and detach the ECG electrodes.
Write down activities (walking, eating) and symptoms (dizziness, palpitations) with the exact time.
Stay away from strong magnetic fields like metal detectors and electric blankets to prevent interference.
Please visit the Cardiology Unit at your scheduled time.
